Biography:
Marvelman, later renamed Miracleman, first appeared in Marvelman #25 (L. Miller & Son, 1954). He was created by Mick Anglo as a replacement for Captain Marvel when Fawcett Comics ceased publication of that character due to a lawsuit from DC Comics.
The original Marvelman was Mike Moran, a young reporter who could transform into the super-powered Marvelman by uttering the word "Kimota!". He was assisted by his young companion, Dicky Dauntless, who became Young Marvelman, and later by his former enemy, Johnny Bates, who became Kid Marvelman. They were essentially a British take on the Marvel Family concept.
The character was revived in the 1980s by Alan Moore under the new name Miracleman and published by Eclipse Comics. This version deconstructed the superhero mythos, presenting a darker and more realistic take on the character and his world. This version significantly redefined Marvelman, exploring the psychological and philosophical implications of superhuman existence. Quality Comics had no part in the creation of the character.
